My daughter has never played lacrosse before, can she still join?
Yes! We offer multiple clinics and resources to help new players get introduced to the game. Check out our Camps/Clinics page for beginner opportunities.
What age groups / teams do you offer?
Second City fields travel teams from our youngest age groups (U10) through high school, organized by graduation year. Visit our Girls Travel Teams page for the full current team list.
How do I try out for a team?
Tryout information is posted on our website as they open up. We host tryouts in August and April. If you're looking to join mid-season, please reach out to us at [email protected] to set up an evaluation.
What if my daughter doesn't make the team she tries out for?
Our goal is to place every player on a team where she'll be challenged and supported. If a player isn't quite ready for a particular level, we'll work to place her on the right team for her current skill level so she can develop and move up over time.
What equipment does my daughter need to get started?
Girls' lacrosse requires a stick, goggles, a mouthguard, and cleats. Goalies need additional protective gear. If you're not sure what to buy or where to start, reach out to us. We're happy to point new families towards a place to purchase gear!
Is girls' lacrosse the same as boys' lacrosse?
No, they're different versions of the sport. Girls' lacrosse has different rules, less body contact, and different equipment. Second City is a girls focused club, and our coaching, training, and team structure are all built specifically around the girls' game.
Second City does not offer boys' lacrosse. If you have a son looking for a boy's lacrosse program, please contact Shamrocks Lacrosse Club at [email protected]
What does a typical season look like?
Our travel season includes regular team practices, skills training, and tournaments throughout the year. We encourage players to join for the full year (fall, winter, and summer) to help build team chemistry and ensure players are growing as both individuals and teammates. A full year typically looks like this:
- Fall: Practice 2x a week, 1-2 tournaments
- Winter: Practice 2x a week
- Summer: Practice 3x a week, 2-3 tournaments
We also offer goalie training, draw training, and several other positional/seasonal camps & clinics throughout the year.
Do you offer anything for players who just want to try lacrosse casually, without committing to a travel team?
Yes! We offer private lessons, practice player options, camps and clinics, and seasonal training programs. Please reach out to [email protected].
How much does it cost to join, and what does that cover?
Costs vary by team and age group. The cost covers coaching, practices, tournament fees, team gear, and more! Contact us directly for current pricing for your daughter's age group.
