Second City Lacrosse Club was built on a simple idea: that Illinois girls' lacrosse players deserve a club experience defined by consistency, culture, and a place to grow as a player and a young woman.

Our Story

Second City started as a commitment to doing travel lacrosse differently. We built our program around consistency, player-first development, and team-first culture. We pride ourselves on dedicated coaches and players who stay with their teams all year - through every practice, every training session, and every tournament. That consistency is the foundation everything else is built on. 

Today, Second City is home to travel teams spanning youth through high school, along with partnerships that connect our players to the next level of the game, including Team Illinois Lacrosse Club and Sweet Home Goalie Academy. What hasn't changed is the mission we started with: train, develop, and guide Illinois' most dedicated, committed, and coachable young women in the game of lacrosse, and build a club culture that families are proud to be part of.

How We Achieve Success

Success at Second City isn't an accident, it's the result of a program built with intention around a few core commitments:

    Consistency

    Consistency. Every team has a designated coach who leads that team's practices, trainings, and games. Players and families always know who they're working with, and that stability lets real coaching relationships and real progress happen.

    Player-first development.

    Every practice and training session is built around player growth, not just the next game on the schedule. We combine traditional lacrosse fundamentals with modern techniques and skills, so our athletes are prepared to compete at the highest level, whether their goal is varsity, college recruitment, or simply playing the best lacrosse of their life.

    We believe players grow fastest when they grow together. By keeping teams and coaching staff consistent, we create an environment where teammates push each other, hold each other accountable, and build the kind of trust that shows up on the field.

    From our youngest travel teams through our high school programs, Second City is designed as a pathway, not a series of disconnected teams. Players who come up through our system are coached with the same standards and the same culture at every level.
